Piano Music

Four piano albums trace the path of my piano music through various spaces of sound, expression, and inner experience: the Nocturnes, the Préludes for Friends, the KlangPortraits, and the Klavierstücke. What they have in common is the search for a beauty that does not lie in the merely pleasing, but arises from tension, resonance, and inner truth.

In this process, I am equally interested in the piano as an intimate sound space and as a nearly orchestral instrument. Tonal tradition, free harmony, motivic construction, rhythmic processes, and tonal differentiation combine with psychological and poetic ideas. The result is soundscapes between lyricism and virtuosity, order and freedom, fragility and ecstasy.

The four albums show different facets of this thinking: the nocturnal introspection of the Nocturnes, the personal musical psychograms of the Préludes for Friends, their expansion through word and voice in the KlangPortraits, and finally the stylistically wide-ranging Klavierstücke as a sounding archive of my compositional development.

For me, beauty arises where a precise musical structure begins to make something internal resonate.
