The focus of my composing is on the individual character of an ensemble or a person for whom I write. This results in individual compositions that capture their essence and uniqueness. Key themes, content wishes, and client needs are thoroughly discussed in an initial consultation.

In an era where music is cheaply or freely available everywhere, the uniqueness of music becomes all the more important. The experience of uniqueness arises from encountering and deeply understanding what music truly is and how it can affect deeper levels of the psyche.

Just as a harvest from one’s own garden tastes better than from the supermarket, individually grown compositions resonate much more intensely with the ear and heart through their subjective truth. Such music possesses its own incomparable value.

My acquired compositional craftsmanship draws from mastering various classical styles (including Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, up to Postmodernism). In addition, in my practice as an arranger and choir conductor, I have also intensively engaged with Pop, Funk/Soul, and Big Band Jazz. In some of my works, this has led to a polystylism that creates new contexts between different sound worlds and eras.

Every moment is interwoven with every other moment. Music, as an art that shapes emotional time, is ideally suited to reveal those spaces where the soul resides. For example, a Sound Portrait can tell a deeply personal story that would only be very briefly conveyed in words. It gets to the heart of something essential.
